They are how we predict, understand, and survive — but also how we hallucinate meaning where none exists.

The same machinery that detects predators in the grass also invents conspiracies in the shadows. The same instinct that recognizes cycles in nature also fabricates cycles in randomness. The mind is brilliant, but it is also overeager — it would rather see a pattern than accept uncertainty.

To see patterns clearly is to recognise both their power and their limits. Some patterns reveal truth. Others reveal only the architecture of our fears. The sovereign mind does not reject patterns — it chooses them.
Issue 08 continues the cognitive arc begun in Issue 07: from raw signal, to structure, to story. Interpretation is not passive. It is a craft. And the shapes we trust determine the worlds we inhabit.
