The Astraean Review — Issue 01
On the discipline of clarity.
The Astraean Review investigates the distortions that accumulate within perception — the subtle warping of memory, meaning, and identity that becomes invisible through repetition.
Issue 01 focuses on the most persistent distortion:
the illusion of self‑certainty.
We navigate the world convinced that our interpretations are accurate, our judgments objective, our memories intact. Yet every layer of perception is shaped by forces we rarely acknowledge:
- cultural inheritance
- emotional residue
- cognitive shortcuts
- unexamined fears
- the gravitational pull of collective narratives
The Review does not seek to dismantle these forces.
It seeks to illuminate them.
Because illumination is the first act of liberation.
And clarity is a discipline — not a default.
