ANOMALY REPORT 001 — The Echo at Signal Point
Classification: Minor Cognitive Distortion
Status: Unresolved
Filed by: Astraean Field Unit 7
Location: Signal Point, Western Periphery
Summary
At 04:12 local time, multiple observers reported a brief but measurable “echo event” at Signal Point — a perceptual phenomenon in which spoken words were repeated back to the speaker with a delay of approximately 0.7 seconds, despite no physical structures capable of producing an acoustic reflection.
The echo did not match the speaker’s tone, cadence, or emotional inflection.
In two cases, the echo responded with different wording.
Observed Behaviour
- Echo repeated phrases with altered emotional tone
- In one instance, the echo responded with:
“Not yet.” - Temperature dropped by 1.8°C during the event
- Local wildlife fell silent for 47 seconds
- No electronic interference detected
Witness Notes
“It sounded like me, but older. Tired. Like it already knew what I was going to say.”
“The echo wasn’t behind me. It was… beside me.”
Preliminary Analysis
The event does not match known acoustic anomalies.
The altered phrasing suggests a cognitive or perceptual overlay rather than a physical reflection.
Possibility of a localized temporal distortion remains under review.
Recommended Action
- Continue monitoring Signal Point for 72 hours
- Deploy passive audio capture grid
- Interview witnesses after 24‑hour decompression period
- Cross‑reference with previous micro‑distortions in the region
Status
Filed. Pending escalation.
